Webinar Chart of 31/1/14 Questions and Answers

How much data for this youtube?

How to record youtubes into my PC?

This was explained and demonstrated later in the webinar, but there's also a link on the how it can be done here

My text box isn't working

Assuming this is text box that allows you to type text on the Whiteboard during the Webinar. After clicking on the “T” tool icon you can then select 2 different types of text. After selecting one of them by clicking on it you then move the cursor where on the Whiteboard you wish to write the text and them click at that position and then start typing. If you dont do that step of clicking on the Whiteboard you will not be able to type text.

Why wouldn't you go straight to ytube and search. You'll know the video will be short

Because not all videos are on You Tube. There are many other video websites as well as web sites that have videos in them that are not on You Tube. Although You Tube is the biggest and most popular place for Videos it is not the only place they can be found so doing a Google search will also show the non You Tube videos. If you go straight to You Tube you will NOT find the non You Tube videos

Only a copyright lawyer can answer that and even then, they would say you should seek you own independent legal advice.

As far as im aware it is ok to watch You Tube videos even if the video may be infringing someones copyright by being on You Tube. So similar to watching TV. As for making a copy of the You Tube video. That would depend on the copyright of the video in question. Unfortunately unless the copyright owner of the video puts something in the name or comments of the video it is impossible to know the status of the copyright.

You Tube do have a copyright link at the extreme bottom of all of their pages. This does not specifically say anything about copying a You Tube Video. However their is a section on Fair Use that talks about being able to use material for training and education purposes. BUT they also write “ If you plan to use copyrighted material that you didn't create, we'd strongly advise you to take legal advice first”. Even that statement may be a bit light on depending on the definition of “create”.

My feeling are, if a copyright owner did not want anyone to copy their video they are very foolish to put it on You Tube because anyone playing it is infact copying it, be it only temporarily. You Tube provides a facility for a copyright owners to have a video taken down if someone else put it on You Tube

You can not make a video and add copyrighted music

Actually you can, provided you get permission from the music copyright owner. That permission may also involve you paying a fee. Most movies have music that was not created by the owner or creator of the music, but they pay a fee to be able to use the music in the movie.

If you want to put music in your video there is plenty on non or out of copyright music on the internet.

Does it record the sound through your microphone?

If the question is about CamStudio the answer is Yes. But it also has an option to record what would be coming out of you speakers so that you can use it to record playing videos.

Would you have to have fast broadband for this?

Assuming the questions is about Google Hangout on Air. No. My broadband speed is just under 3 Mbps download and 0.3 Mbps upload and I was using both Blackboard Collaborate and Google Hangout on Air at the same time, both recording. But if you want to record in full high definition then a faster speed would be required.

Full high definition is not required for showing what is on a computer screen as you could see where I was sharing my screen during the webinar. It is only required if you want a much clearer image from a camera. Web cams tend to be low definition.
