According to this article,“For one week in January 2012, Facebook deliberately made about 155,000 people sad, just to see if it could”.

Any research institute that has a ethics standard, would not have been allow to do such an experiment.

Other than the above article and a few others not much was reported about it in the the mainstream media.

Because Facebook is a profit making corporation, provided it does things by applicable laws, it appears to be allowed to make people sad, because ther are, as far as I can determine no laws against making people sad.

Even though Facebook admitted they did the experiment, because they do not reveal ther daily methodology, it is not known if what they did as an experimental is ongoing.

If Facebook now know they can control ther users emotions, why would they not do so to enhance their profits?

It may not be illegal but is it ethical?
