Remembering

Most of what we are, are our memories.

Do intelligent people know more than less intelligent people?

This, "11 common traits of highly intelligent people" does not list knowledge or superior knowledge as a trait of intelligence. Although this indicates some collations between political or social ideology and smartness, nothing is said about knowledge and intelligece.

Is it necessary to remember?

If so how much. At the top I said we are, our thoughts. So without that that memory, we wouldnt be who we are.

It's very convenient to remember where you put something down so you know where to look the next time you want to use it.

But what would be the benefits of have the so called photograph memory known as Eidetic memory? Would it actually be a disadvantage?

Considering the technological age that we live in would it be more important just to remember how to find out information rather then had information itself?

From that wikipedia link “Extensive research has failed to demonstrate consistent correlations between the presence of eidetic imagery and any cognitive, intellectual, neurological, or emotional measure”

Why was so much emphasis put on memory in previous education?

Psychology about it
