first aid

My reply to this question on the Forestdale Facebook page.

“Looking for a first aid/CPR course that runs classes on the weekend. Anyone got any recommendations please?”

Having done a one day course a month or so ago that I did not have to pay for because it was paid for by the organisation that I attend, I felt to much material was covered to quickly as it appears that most RTOs (Registered Training Organisations) are more interested in making money than providing assessable quality training. I suggest you find out what material will be covered in what period of time. The 3 Subjects I did: HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support HLTAID011Provide First Aid . we're done in about 5 hours with no training notes given to refer back to. I have a certificate of attainment for these but would not no what to do to provide basic first aid, unless I looked it up on the internet. If you just want a certificate of attainment then go for the cheapest. But if you want to actually learn first aid go for a provider that spends enough time so that you actually learn. I have no experience with them but I have been told St John's ambulance Australia are pretty good.
