theft
From Wikipedia “In common usage, theft is the taking of another person's property without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.” If you give a copy of something you dont deprive the rightful owner of the item, so it is not theft. It may infringe some other law but it is NOT theft.
The movie industry have been trying to get people to believe that file sharing is theft when it is not. They appear to be succeeding.
