Poor service of scammers

Warning don't do what I do here unless you fully understand the implications of doing so.

I would like to complain about the poor service I've been getting from scammers lately.

More often they are hanging up part way through the call without actually resolving my supposed problem.

Phone use

Because nowadays I mainly use my phone to browse the internet, when, when I get a scam phone call and when they ask what devices I have I only say a phone. They then usually ask if I have an iPhone or Android to which I say what's the difference. I usually say I have a kogan agora X1. They sometimes work it out that it is an Android phone. Telling them I don't know the difference between Android and iPhone give them a feeling that they've got someone that's not too smart 8

Browser

Then usually they ask me what browser I use. I ask what is a browser. They say Google Chrome or something like that. I say I use Google. They says to go into it. Which I do. They ask me what's on the screen. I usually read out what is on the last web page.

The last guy asked me to open a new tab. I asked what's a tab. He said open a new screen. I asked how do you do that. He said to press the + key. I said there is no + key. He asked me to go back to the screen where I started. Which I did. I then described the icon I was using to get to where I was before. He told me that was Firefox. I should have said I don't want to start any fires for any foxes. But I didn't

He asked me to start Firefox again which I did. He asked me to press the three dots at the top right the screen. I should have said my fingers are too small to get between the dots. But I just pressed the three dots for him. Somehow I got to the Firefox home screen and he asked me to describe what was on the screen. I rattled off a few things one of which was a microphone. He asked me to press that. Actually I don't think he wanted me to press the microphone but I did. I then told him as I was talking it was writing what I was saying. He said to press the microphone again. I told him the microphone was no longer on the screen.

The Keyboard

He asked if I could see a keyboard on the screen. I should have said no the keyboards is on my computer. To make things a bit easier for him I did say yes. He asked me to type in www dot. He did not tell me to remove what had already been type by the voice typing. So I typed wwwdot, and read it out as I was typing.

He said no don't type d.o.t. press the Dot. So I type and read back to him “press the Dot”. He said no,no, no. I could now hear the frustration in his voice.

Whatever he asked me to type I did so literally.

He then hung up on me. Without fixing the problem that he had taken a lot of time to describe at the beginning of the call.

Who do I complained to

So who do I complain to about this lack of capability by scammers? Perhaps the next time I get a scam call I should tell them I don't want to talk to them because they hang up before they are able to solve my supposed problem. And I want them to promise me they won't hang up halfway through.

The reverse number

Sometimes when I get scamming calls I let them go all the way through and do things quite cooperatively for them.

Typically they want me to install some software which allows them to take over my device.

Most of this software requires me to give give them a code to access ther device.

When I read out the number I usually read it out in reverse right to left and also change one or two of the digits. But I distinctly tell them I'm reading it out from right to left. It takes me telling them usually quite a few times before they get it.

Credit card details

My record for keeping a scammer on the phone is about 40 minutes. In that situation they were unable to get into my computer but they said they could sell me some software which would fix my computer and I could buy it at different price brakes. After choosing the medium priced one they asked me for my credit card details. I gave them some numbers, of course not the real ones. And when they ask for the card expiry date I gave them a year part of it that was quite some time ago. It took them quite some time to work out it was them that was being scammed.

Again Warning don't do what I do here unless you fully understand the implications of doing so.
