Suz,

First I fully respect your right to disagree with my statement, “what your proposing has been proven not to work”.

However I do not feel it is logical that the reason you disagree is based on a suggestion by one person that has been robbed.

If you disagree with my statement you may disagree with the research paper published by The Institute of Criminology, University of Sydney, that was written be professional criminologists from Griffith University.

https://research-repository.griffith.edu.au/bitstream/handle/10072/43650/8394_1.pdf;sequence=1

Which is were I sourced my information.

I prefer to accept professional researched universities papers than the statements made by those that have been robbed.

As for the TV station report. I see it is dated 10.07.2023. If it does work in reducing burglarly, it would now be reflected in the crime statistics, as they are updated daily. But to determine that you would have to do as much reserch as I did to produce the statistics where I compared Forestdale with some other suburbs:

http://greig.homeip.net/doku.php?id=burglary_forestdale_comparison

But you would be unable to do it because the TV report only stated it was the Gold Coast. It did no say which suburb.

You could contact the TV station or the security organization and ask them. If you do, I am willing to show you how to possibly get statistics to determine if such patrols are effectively in reducing burglarly.

But considering the $55 per hour cost, which works out at $1,320 per day, $481,800 per year, $2,409,000 for 5 years, considering in the last 5 years Forestdale residents were unlawfully entered, on average once per 95 years, is it economicly viable?

That would be for only one person covering all properties in Forestdale. How long does it take to drive down every street in Forestdale, let alone check each? house

As it said in the above report the perception of burglarly is disproportionate to its reality.

But I realize the emotional trauma those that get robbed or even think about getting robbed, could be going through.
