signage

I have noticed a technique that marketers are using to induce people to buy more and not consider the price.

This is especially so in food courts at large shopping centres, as well as fast food outlets.

In the old days there would be fixed signage that showed the price of the items that they sold. That's now been replaced, often with digital signage, that only shows a select list of items and obviously the items that they make the most profit on. Quite often meal deals which also induce you to buy more than what you actually need.

By you not having the price of the item that you may wish to purchase, you may have to go and ask for the price, in which case you're already then at the shop, so less reluctant to walk away. It also means that as a consumer you can't stand back and look around and decide which has best price.

I notice even at the cinemas where once they used to have a list of all the moves that were currently running, that they no longer have that out the front. You have to go into the cinema foyer to find that information. Again then your less reluctant to walk away.

Just my observations.

If you like this observation you might also like to look at my observations about marketers in in what I wrote about how to not spend money.

This is one of my marketing strategies, to induce you to read more of my material.

But it won't cost you anything, other than your time.
