“The problems of the world are not an inability to produce but rather an unwillingness to share”
Source unknown.
I have written this as the basis of having a discussion of the issue
A society that has no money and were no bartering takes place. Everything has no or equal value. A grain of sand would have the same value as a giant aircraft.
Ther are many political system that could support a non economic system. That becomes a political discussion rather than a discussion of should we have an economy or not.
If ther is no money no bartering and nothing has value how does it operate?
If you want something and the society allows you to have it (political system) you just take it. If the political systems allow you, or wants you to, you contribute to society as per social norms. As happens currently. Your contribution could provide you with everything you need. That is not how our current economic systems work.
Economists will tell you that money is just a means of exchange that provides more convenience than bartering. But it's more than that because the accumulation of it, beyond what is needed, allows wealth by one group usually at the detriment of another group.
Government issued money is backed by laws. Governmens Laws are a human invented concept. Just like governments themself are a human invented concept. Thay are just stories handed down from generation to generation. You cant physically see governments or laws. You can read laws just like you can read a fictional story. Laws rely on aggregate faith to actually be able to operate. Since Government issued money is based on laws then that money also relies on faith to exist. If faith is lost in laws and money then they will no longer operate.
To that extent money is a religion.
Markets have existed for millennium They pre exist money, where barter, the trading of goods and services for other goods and services happened. But only items that had relative scarcity. You would be hard pressed to find someone that's willing to exchange a handful of sand for another handful of sand.
Economist study markets and try to use the term “laws of supply and demand” in an attempt to describe markets.
To be ablel to do so they make assumptions. That are false
Like:
Economist admit that these assumptions are false but they say they are close enough for them to say that the basics of what they say about supply a demand does work. In my opinion that is WRONG.
Does it exist?
Considering that on average the 8 billion people that live on this planet are all fed and housed and when the concept of economics started to become common place ther where far less people, does this not show that scarcity is only in money, by those that control money, for ther benefit, at others detriment.
We cant stop our planet from spinning or move it to a different place in our solar system or to a different Galaxy, but we can change any human created concept like, laws, money and time.
It's not can we do it but how we do it.
A non economic society is possible.
One proposed way to achieve this could be:
"Want to reduce the power of the finance sector? Start by looking at climate change"
What are the advantages and disadvantage of it, for who?
