I had heard about the concept of levels of Seperation but only thought that it ment that everyone, some how, new everyone else by a small number of levels. That is one person nos someone else and that person nos someone else, that the first person does not no.
I was of the understanding that, that level number was 6.
Based on the following that number could be as small as 3.
According to this article The average American knows about 600 people. If we assume that applies to the entire word, we can multiple those 600 people by the 600 people that each of them no, and then repeat that. It only has to be repeated 4 times to come up with a number that is more than all the people living on this planet, as seen in these figures.
This article recons that the average person can recognize 5000 faces. If we do the same as above for noing people that means that everyone in the world can be recognised by only 3 levels of Seperation.
For all of Australia, that is only 2 levels. Explained another way all the people you can recognise can recognise the equivalent to all the people in Australia. The entire 25 million of us.
