Kmart Brownsplains

Found out today from some of the employees at Kmart brownsplains they are the second largest store in Queensland based on sales. The largest store is in Maroochydore.

I was quite amazed about this cos I always thought that brownsplains was a low social economic area. Apparently that's the reason their sales do so well, because Kmart is directed towards a lower socio economic consumer.

It's impossible to compare the sales with stores in Queensland with stores in the rest of Australia because in the case of New South Wales and Victoria the stores are allowed to be open 24 hours a day. Apparently it is legislation in Queensland that doesn't allow 24 hours trading. Which may be a good thing for the smaller retailers.

Regardless of the sales that Kmart make brownsplains they still have to be able to compete with online retailers.

Online stores can and do run 24hrs a day seven days a week
