2 Night Stay at Mt Tamborine

15/10/08

My birthday - Went down (south), but up to Tamborine Mountain for two nights. Part of my retirement gift. The cottages are lovely and very private, you'd want it to be as you are looking at the stars as you sit on the toilet!!. Went for a walk to Witches Falls and then into North Tamborine that evening for dinner at a restaurant, 'Spice of Life'. Quite nice. It was just cold enough for a fire so we stoked it up, but had to open a window after going to bed. The room is split level with the bed on the higher area, so it was warmer up there.

Breakfast was delivered in a big picnic hamper. A full load of hot bread, German sausages, bacon, eggs, tomato (really red and fresh), mushrooms, orange juice, orange, banana and kiwi fruit. Very nice. Tomorrow we selected the yoghurt and cereal option.

Went for a walk along Gallery Walk, Eagle Heights. Very touristy and craft shops, etc. Highlight was the cuckoo clock shop. Geoff asked the owner if he had a recording playing instead of the individual cuckoo clocks sounding - how embarrassing.

This was taken just outside the Cottages. Through the trees in the middle of the photo is the edge of the mountain where you can see some fantastic views to the valley below.

Geoff's comments : 1:02 pm We went to Laheys Lookout, where we had been 31 years earlier (1977) and taken a photo of the old 323 Mazda from the top of a tower. The tower is no longer ther as it sais on a memorial plarque. Though we recon the plaque is wrong because they tower at the top of the hill not where the present communication tower is

This Photo show where the tower used to be.

This on shows the current car we now have

This Photo was taken 31 years earlier (1977)from the tower looking down (which now does not exist). That was when I quit my Job, sold my motorbike (Kawasaki 900) and bought a Mazda 323 and drove to Queensland. On returning from the trip I started working for Olivetti.

This photo was also taken from the top of the tower in 1977 looking at Canungra. Because only a communications tower now exists it's not possibe to get this view any more. Or, as it was a long time ago and our memories are not as good as they used to be, perhaps it was taken part way down the hill on the drive into Canungra.
