Names are given to groups of people based on many criteria. Country, race, religion, what ever. Then when something bad happens, it is the name of the group that is either blamed or is the victim. Rarely the individuals.
Would things be better if we did not allow individuals to be referred to by the named group they belong to?
Classifying people by colour, race, country or anything appears to be used to un individualize us. We, another un individualize word, then tend to use those grouping words to take responsibility away from an individual for doing something bad.
That is because physical punishment can not be put on the classifying grouping words. Like a country colour or race can not be put in jail.
If individuals who do bad, were punished without reference to any grouping, we may have a better word
