Artificial Intelligence

My Experience

I did a Google on artificial intelligence (AI) and at the time it came up with chat GTP. I used that for a while and noted the differences between it and what would come up in a Google search. Google searches give you a link to other web pages which you then have to go to to get the information. Whereas large language model AIs just give you what your asking for, without having to go anywhere else. You can write or speak as much as you like when interacting with an AI.

But the important part is it's a dialogue you are having as if with another person. Generally Google searches are independent one off. Whereas the dialogue you have with artificial intelligence is ongoing. Once you get an answer you can say things like can you please expand on that or give me more information or whatever. It remembers everything that you have previously had dialogue with it and answers accordingly

More recently I went to use chat GTP only to find it was overloaded and said come back later. So I did a Google for other artificial intelligence pages. The first thing you came up with was Google Bard.

Google Bard

The benefit of Google Bard is that you don't have to sign up for a new account, if you have already a Google account. If you have Gmail, you have a Google account.

The whole idea of having an account with AI is that at any time you can go back to a previous dialogue you were having with it, and continue it, days, months or weeks or whatever, later. It just gives you a list of the previous dialogue you have had, can you click on the one you want to continue with.

Teaching how to use AI

If someone knows how to Google something they will have no problem learning how to use an AI. The interface will be slightly different but not so much so that it will confuse people.

I feel it's more important to explain the differences between a Google search and an AI dialogue. The latter being as I described above.

Why should the use of AI be taught

I feel that artificial intelligence is the future of computing and technology. Just like we talk about computer literacy today, in the future it'll be artificial intelligence literacy. If you don't have it, you're going to get left behind.

Dumbing people down?

Some may say that the use of artificial intelligence is dumbing down people. I believe the opposite. With greater use of artificial intelligence you have to learn how to compose your questions and your interactions with it. That requires human intelligence.

More Information

Here is Googles, YouTube video introducing Bard

Just do a Google search on artificial intelligence or Bard or chat GTP, to find out more. Of course try it out for yourself.
