ADVENTURES WITH Clive

I went recently with Clive Jacobs on the run where he picks up the plastic, aluminium and Glass containers to retrieve the deposit, so the money can be used in community projects.

What an adventure. In this era where quite a lot of travel is restricted, Clive took me to places I have never been before, I met people I've never met before, saw and did things I've never done before. To pay for such an adventure would have a cost thousands of dollars.

Ted

We started at Clive's place where we waited for Ted Dale to return Clive's Ute. The stories Ted can tell could fill a number of books.

Off in the Ute

Then off in the ute to Lincoln Green Drive where Clive had been told that the bin was full. We had to carefully tilt the bin, because it was a bit too heavy to lift into the back of the Ute. Interesting the assortment of containers involved.

Dickerman Rd

Then off to Dickerman Rd where a lady takes care of young kids, hence ther are plenty of containers accumulated. The lady was not home but we met her German Shepherd Dog.

Clive nu the dog by name so it did not confront us. Or is it that Clive has an affinity with animals. I know he has something to do with that, with snakes.

Back to Clives

Clive had to make a phone call and his mobile wasn't working, so we had to return to his place to get the telephone number of whom he had to ring.

Whilst ther he suggested we go for lunch to an Indian restaurant. A new one he told me, had opened up in Brownsplains. Also we had to get a cover to go over the back of the ute to stop the containers blowing off. More on that later on.

Caddy Storage

On the way to brownsplains we stopped in at a business called Caddy Storage and collected containers from them. Spoke to Matt the manager.

They also have leftover material from the stuff they make, storage containers in vehicles, which they donated to various Men's Sheds.

Some of the vehicles storage containers were metal because they we're going to be used for transporting prisoners.

The Indian Restaurant

Off for lunch to the Indian Restaurant. I had never before parked at the back of Wollies at Westpoint even though I have been close to there many times.

The Restaurant is called Fresh Morning Cafe and Restaurant. It did not sound the sort of name you give to an Indian restaurant.

Clive was of the understanding it was an Indian restaurant because it was run by Indians. Turns out it's not an Indian Restaurant. But it had a very big selection of items on the menu. Good environment, good food, great selection.

Re opening Newsagent

On leaving in the restaurant we walked past the newsagents, who have been closed for some time and and are now just reopening.

Clive, who seems to know everybody, nu the lady that previously ran the newsagents and is now going to manager it. It's going to be merging with the tobacco shop.

The Jewellery Shop

A few doors down was a jewellery shop.

Dubai Palm Jewellery The owner was not in. Another person Clive knows. But we had a good conversation with the guy in the shop about his customers and where he originated from. The shop has some association with jewellary business in Dubai.

Even though the ute was now full of containers we dropped in at a business and trade Link place and got a cardboard box full of more containers.

Along Johnson road

Now heading towards the recycling refund centre on Long Johnson road, the cardboard box decides to fly off the back of the ute.

Here's me and Clive disrupting traffic picking up containers off the road. Need a better way to carry the containers.

The Refund Center

Clive goes to the refund centre in the industrial estate off Stapylton road because according to him they seem to give more per load than the one down in brownsplains.
